“Where should we eat?”, a common question that goes through everybody’s mind when they see the infinite selection of restaurants on every street in Dubrovnik Old Town.  Having too much choice makes it hard to decide where to eat, and since you are on holiday you shouldn’t think too much, so we made a list of best restaurants in Dubrovnik for you. We did the hard part and tried them all. We know, it wasn’t easy, you’re welcome!

Being a coastal city, Dubrovnik has typical Dalmatian cuisine which is known for fresh seafood, plenty of fish, locally grown vegetables and fruits, lots of olive oil and homegrown herbs.

While fresh local seafood tops the menu in Dubrovnik, there is plenty of choice for all tastes. You can choose between Asian, Korean, Bosnian, Mexican, Italian, International and Croatian cuisine. Most of the restaurants offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices.

Choosing among all of these great restaurants was anything but easy, still, we made it. Here is our list of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik!

1. 360º

The restaurant 360º is the first Dubrovnik restaurant to receive a Michelin star.

Set within the ancient walls of Dubrovnik itself, overlooking the old port and Lokrum Island this restaurant offers you excellent ambiance.
The restaurant is literally sitting on the medieval UNESCO protected walls which means you will be dining in a historical spot. The view and ambiance are STUNNING! With a view like that, even if they serve you leftover pizza from yesterday you will be happy. And I’m not joking.

Their approach is rooted in the heritage of Mediterranean cuisine, classic dishes are presented in a modern style.

Beside Michelin star, the restaurant has an accolade from the Wine Spectator for the wine list. They try to promote Croatian wines and give travelers a taste of Croatia on both their palate and nose. Their sommeliers are always keen on suggestion indigenous varieties – Croatia has 39 autochthonous varieties.

The waitresses are very knowledgeable and extremely attentive but not overly that you feel uncomfortable. Food quality and flavors are exceptional, every course is well explained by the waiting staff and beautifully presented.

If you are looking for something extra special then this is the number one place in the city – the most unique dining experience you will find in Dubrovnik.

The food, the view, the service and the wine are simply world-class, as a result, it is pricey but you will not leave disappointed. As far as value for money goes, it’s worth every cent.

This lovely rooftop restaurant is hidden a level above the crowded streets and repetitive menus of each restaurant on the corner.

The intimate location makes it the perfect place for anybody wanting a calm quality dining experience in Dubrovnik.

Open to the skies and the surrounding buildings, the restaurant has a romantic and charmingly elegant ambiance. So close to the crowds yet so far away. The service is extraordinary. Waiters are knowledgeable, professional and extremely friendly.

The food is high quality, creative and delicious, perfectly seasoned and presented with elegance. Excellent wine selection explained in detail by waiters.

Charming restaurant situated on the rooftop terrace in the heart of the city, with a spectacular view overlooking the ancient red roofs and stone streets of the Old City.

Being amongst the terracotta roofs of Dubrovnik gives you a feeling of exclusiveness, rather than walking the streets and eating in overcrowded restaurants.

They offer delicious Mediterranean dishes made with a unique twist.

Their wine list consists mainly of great local Croatian wines and they are constantly rotating their selections.

They also offer breakfast, such as house-smoked salmon and avocado, eggs Benedict or Royale, served on homemade brioche.

To get to the actual restaurant requires a climb up 5 floors, that’s why they call it Above5. There’s no elevator so sadly it’s a no-go for many disabled diners. The friendly staff is there to make the night even more enjoyable. The setting is very romantic and intimate, great for couples.

Steaks and pigeon breasts are a must-try.

4. Pantarul

Located in Lapad area, only 5 minutes ride from the Old Town. Uber is the best way to get there.

The name Pantarul means ‘fork’ in the Dubrovnik dialect.

What is special about Pantarul is the focus on local ingredients. The dishes are innovative and presented in a modern way but do not lose the traditional roots of Croatia. The quality of everything is very high. The menu changes four times a year, as they insist on the use of seasonal produce.

All the dishes are prepared using local produce sourced by farmers from Dubrovnik’s surroundings, especially from the Konavle region. Home-made pasta and bread are other assets of Pantarul.

The decor is cute and casual. Homey interior design, pastel colors,  intimate lighting and smooth music in the background all make for a relaxed and casual feel. After all, the restaurant’s motto is ‘ Feel like home’. On top of that, waiters are very attentive to make you feel even cozier.

5. Nautika

Nautika is a high-class restaurant located on the very edge of the sea, just outside the Pile gate.

It has two terraces, a large one next to the seawall and a smaller, more intimate one, on the upper floor of the restaurant. The view from its terraces is STUNNING! Adriatic Sea, St Lawrence Fort, city walls… Out of this world.

The interior is beautiful and atmospheric, but almost everyone eats on the terrace in back, weather permitting. If you decide to stay in the interior of Nautika it is possible that you will be welcomed with live piano music. The ambiance is quite romantic both inside and outside.

Nautika is a place that combines tradition, quality, and creativity. It offers an innovative and refined style of Mediterranean cuisine.

The service is exceptionally good, waiters tell you everything about the menu, wines,  and olive oils.

Fun fact: Nautika was honored to host Pope John Paul II!

6. Villa Ruža Old City Bistro

Villa Ruža Old City Bistro is located in the heart of the Old Town. Built-in 1930 by a rich merchant from Dubrovnik and dedicated as a symbol of love to his wife. Perfect location on a beautiful terrace partly overlooking the square in front of the church.

It has very intimate and calm ambiance, away from the street crowds. You will have fun watching the people passing from above.

This oasis of peace and serenity makes an ideal place for all occasions – whether you are looking for a nice terrace with the view of Dubrovnik Cathedral, for group lunch, a romantic wedding venue, or for your business meeting or teambuilding.

7. Shizuku

Located in the area in Lapad, this restaurant is a little harder to find. Shizuku serves authentic Japanese dishes, as well as authentic Japanese beer and sake. The owners are a Japanese couple of Chefs so they know what they’re doing.

If you are tired of traditional Croatian cuisine and fancy something a little different Shizuku is a place for you.

The quality of Shizuku sushi is superb. The fish is fresh, tasty, and well presented. One of the best you’ll have outside of Japan (Japanese guest will agree on this). The price is inexpensive compared to a lot of other restaurants. After dinner, you can take a walk on Uvala Lapad, very romantic and close to the restaurant.

8. Tavern Arka

Tavern Arka is situated about 10 minutes drive from Dubrovnik, in the Zaton Mali, a bay area on the north coast of Dubrovnik. It is easily accessible by following the Adriatic coastal road towards Split. Uber is the best way to get there, and it is really easy to get one in Dubrovnik.

Tavern Arka offers you a fine dining experience with a laid-back vibe with impressive vintage cozy and rustic interior decor.

It is a local cuisine restaurant, with fresh seafood, extraordinary stakes (no wonder since the owner spent most of his life in the USA) and a great wine list at very reasonable prices. Make sure to order octopus salad and oysters. All portions are quite generous so you can share.

The service is very attentive and friendly, you will feel like home.
